Jeanni’s Preschool and School Age Center
Beechwood Childcare – Jeanni’s
During 2008, Beechwood Childcare expanded its operation and opened a site in Winter Haven, Florida. Jeanni’s Preschool and School Age Center operates from two adjacent properties and has places for 120 children, from infants to 11 years old. The center is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families and is open all year round, from 7.00 am until 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday, closing only for main Federal holidays and for one week at Christmas. All staff must undergo strict clearance procedures and are required to undertake State mandated training.
Children under one year old are cared for in our newly established infant room, where they are provided with many experiences to enhance their early development, including paint and water play, as well as plenty of cuddles. Each child follows its own routine, agreed with parents until they are old enough to follow the more structured routines of the older children. There are individual classrooms for 1, 2, 3, and 4 year olds where age appropriate toys and activities are provided, and a large room for school age children to use before and after school hours and during school closures.
We offer a drop off and collection service for a number of local schools, please ask for further details.
The center offers Florida’s Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) classes which provide free, part time education for eligible 4 year old children. We have two very large play areas with plenty for all ages to do when they are outside. The younger children, under 2 years old, have their own enclosed outdoor play area which is fully sheltered, enabling them to have access to outside activities every day. Children are taken on field trips both for educational purposes and simply for fun!
The center follows the Creative Curriculum and believes that children learn best by doing, so need to be offered a wide variety of opportunities to experience different things. They are offered art and craft activities, role play, music, stories and physical activities every day and encouraged to try new experiences. We regularly invite parents and families to join us for a variety of occasions, including Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Parents are also welcome to visit at any time and families of enrolled children are given access codes for our external doors.
Jeanni’s also participates in the Childcare Food Program which is sponsored by the US Department of Agriculture to encourage children to follow a healthy lifestyle. With the current emphasis on obesity, we see this as an important way to educate children on healthy eating, as they are provided with balanced menus each meal time and encouraged to drink plenty of milk. The program has proved popular with the children who enjoy the variety of foods provided, and with parents who can be assured their children are being given good food. There is no additional charge to families for this service.
We are also happy to offer places on the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County subsidized places scheme.
