In September 2013, the very popular Before and After School Club was supplemented by the addition of a Wrap Around nursery service on site at Burman. From Summer 2015 this service has been extended to offer not only wrap around provision for both morning and afternoon sessions of the school nursery, but also a full day nursery service for children aged two and above. The Before and After School Club now becomes an Out of School Club offering a service not only before and after school, but also whenever school is closed. This service is open to children aged three to eleven even if they don’t attend Burman school. We operate from purpose built, self-contained accommodation on the school site and we are now open every day of the year except bank holidays and for a week at Christmas. The facility is beautifully resourced and is currently open from 7.30 am until 6.00 pm, with snacks provided. We have a qualified and trained First Aider on site at all time.
Children attending the nursery are offered a wide range of activities to enhance their education, in a fun environment. Activities available at every session include art and craft, sand and water, music and dance, small world, construction toys, books and storytelling, role play and dressing up and a variety of climbing frames and outdoor toys. The day is structured to ensure that all our children are able to develop in ways that best suit their individual needs. Staff monitor and assess the children’s development and keep individual records of each child’s achievements to share with you (pre-school children). The friendly, caring staff take time to introduce themselves to your child and settling in sessions are always available.
Where your child attends the school nursery, staff work closely with them to ensure continuity, supporting the children with the transition into their classroom at school. Children are escorted to and from school and communication books are provided to ensure excellent communication between everyone who cares for your child – our setting, the school and you, the parent.
Our Out of School Club is exciting and fun. Children help to plan their own activities and no two days are ever the same from water fights to day trips to cookery lessons. They can choose from very active fun or quiet relaxing activities and qualified staff are available to help and support their choices. We provide activities suitable for the whole age range. They are encouraged to make new friends and help each other. A good time is had by all.
There is a suggestion box available in our reception area which we encourage parents to use to offer any ideas they feel might enhance and improve the quality of care we offer. This supports our Parental Involement Policy and we look forward to working with you in this step of your children’s education.
